Focus & Aims: Analysis of literary and/or non-literary texts in the student's best academic language; develop critical interpretation, appreciation of language's power, and expression.

Examples: Language A: Literature, Language A: Language and Literature.

Focus & Aims: Learning an additional modern or classical language; developing communication skills in various contexts; promoting intercultural understanding through language.

Examples: Language B (some prior experience), Language ab initio (beginner), Latin, Classical Greek.

Focus & Aims: Study of human experience, behavior, social/economic/political/environmental/historical dimensions; critical understanding of human systems and contemporary issues.

Examples: History, Geography, Economics, Business Management, Psychology, Philosophy, Global Politics, Social & Cultural Anthropology.

Focus & Aims: Understanding the natural world through observation, experimentation, and application of scientific principles; developing investigative skills and awareness of science's ethical implications.

Examples: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Design Technology, Sports, Exercise and Health Science.
