Lakehead's official IB chart says HL subjects at 5 or better "may be considered" for advanced standing, and for Computer Science that consideration lands as generic first-year credit. The computer science degrees build their first year on Computer Science 1411 and Computer Science 1431, and unspecified credit does not stand in for either. Lakehead's own guidance is that unspecified credit can normally count toward elective requirements, though it cautions that you may not be able to use every credit awarded, so check the fit against your program's requirements.
The processing rules decide whether this credit actually lands. Lakehead states advanced standing is awarded automatically once all final official results arrive, that the award requires an official transcript sent from the IBO (the IBO explains how to send one), and that assessments "will not be completed after the first year" of your program unless you change programs. Advanced standing is also capped at a maximum of 3.0 FCE across all eligible secondary school coursework, so strong results in several IB or AP subjects cannot stack past that limit. Career-related Programme students with an HL 5 or better are eligible, and applicants with an HL 5 or better who will not complete the full Diploma are considered on an individual basis.
