McGill grants 6 credits of unassigned French as a Second Language credit (FRSL 1XX) for IB French B HL with a score of 5 or higher. This credit is available to students in all faculties except Engineering.
Because this is generic first-year credit (the "1XX" designation), it will count toward your total credit load and typically functions as an elective. It will not substitute for a specific prerequisite course in your program. If you receive an exemption for a course but then choose to retake it at McGill, you will not receive credit for the McGill course and it will not count toward your GPA.
