The most important thing about this award is what it does not carry. SFU states that transfer credit from IB may be eligible for Q and B designations, but not W. The real course behind "ENGL 111" is ENGL 111W, Literary Classics in English, and the missing W in SFU's own notation is the tell: you get the units, not the Writing designation.
That matters because ENGL 111W is one of the usual ways SFU students clear the lower-division Writing requirement, and this credit cannot do it. You will still complete a lower-division W course at SFU plus an upper-division W course in your major. The assigned half should carry Breadth-Humanities, though breadth must sit outside your major, so an English major gains nothing there. SFU's table also lists "WL102" as an alternative, and no such course appears in the SFU Calendar in any recent term.
