Useful credit in most faculties, but it will not get you into Honours Psychology. A score of 5 or higher earns credit in every faculty, but not the same kind: named PSYC course credit in most, unspecified PSYC 1UNS in Health Sciences, and generic Humanities and Social Sciences units in Smith Engineering. Only named credit is a true course equivalency; the other two fill degree space without replacing a course.
What to watch for:
- Honours Psychology is the real constraint. The Academic Calendar states "PSYC 100/6.0 must be taken at Queen's for admission into an Honours Psychology plan," covering Specialization, Major, Joint Honours and Minor. PSYC 100 is excluded with PSYC 102 and PSYC 103. Queen's defines an exclusion as courses similar enough that credit is granted for only a subset, and states that holding credit for an excluded course will usually prevent registration in the others. It does not say that registering cancels the transfer credit, so treat this as a registration block to resolve with your faculty rather than an automatic forfeit. The 3-year General BA does not carry this restriction.
- Outside an Honours plan it is not a dead end. The same page says PSYC 100 as a prerequisite "can only be waived if a student has completed a similar advanced high school (AP, IB) ... introductory psychology course and official transfer credit is noted on the student's Queen's transcript." Health Sciences is the exception, where the credit "cannot be used to access upper year PSYC courses."

Arts, Science, Commerce, Computing, Nursing: PSYC 102 (3.0 units), plus PSYC 103, which Queen's lists on a second line carrying no unit weight, so the award is 3.0 units in total and not 6.0. Comment: "Students who wish to pursue a Psychology Honours degree Plan must take Queen's PSYC 100."
Health Sciences: PSYC 1UNS (6.0 units). Comment: "This transfer credit cannot be used to access upper year PSYC courses."
Smith Engineering: Humanities and Social Sciences (6.0 units).
