Does Memorial University of Newfoundland give transfer credit for IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL?

What to watch for:

• An HL 4 yields no credit. The published threshold is 5.
• The IB chart row has no campus split, so the award applies at both St. John's and Grenfell. The "campus you are attending" rule applies only to subjects where the chart lists separate equivalencies for both campuses.
• For Engineering applicants, the IB chart's HL 5 award still applies, and SL Math with a 4 separately allows registration in MATH 1000 even though no credit is granted.
• Engineering students with the HL credit still face Engineering One promotion rules. The nine EO courses (ENGI 1010, 1020, 1030, 1050; MATH 1001 and MATH 2050; PHYS 1051; CHEM 1050; and 3 credit hours of English at the 1000 level or a Critical Reading and Writing course) must each be passed at 55% or held by transfer credit, with a 65% promotion average across the nine, and at least 15 of those credit hours must be completed at Memorial. The EO Faculty page adds a 50% floor in MATH 1000 and PHYS 1050. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee promotion: averages below 80% advance only as Faculty capacity permits, only an 80% or higher average guarantees a preferred major, EO must be completed within two academic years, and failing any EO course more than once results in withdrawal from the program.
• Posted credit depends on documentation: Memorial requires the official IB transcript sent directly from the International Baccalaureate Organization, and the Office of the Registrar states transfer credit evaluation will not begin until official transcripts are received.
